Esports is a rapidly growing industry globally, with Africa being one of the continents where the interest in esports is increasing. However, the esports scene in Africa is still in its early stages and lacks the infrastructure and organisation necessary to attract and retain top talent. To address this issue, #AUEsportsConnect & #AUEsportsConnectFEMME are the new esports tournament systems that will connect and promote African esports players on the continent.

Objectives:

  1. Create a centralised platform for African esports players to register, compete and connect with other players on the continent.
  2. Provide a matchmaking and scheduling system to make it easy for players to participate in various esports tournaments.
  3. Organise regional qualifiers leading up to a national or continental championship event to showcase the top talent from across Africa.
  4. Promote and foster a sense of community and competition among African esports players.
  5. Attract new players, viewers and sponsors to the African esports scene.

Implementation:

  1. Establish a dedicated website and mobile application for the tournament system. The website will serve as the central hub for players to register, view tournament schedules, and communicate with other players.
  2. Create a matchmaking and scheduling system that will allow players to easily find and participate in tournaments. This will include a ranking system that will help to ensure fair matches between players of similar skill levels.
  3. Organise regional qualifiers for players in different countries or regions. The top players from each region will then advance to a national or continental championship event.
  4. Promote the tournament system through social media and other online platforms to attract new players, viewers, and sponsors.
  5. Partner with local and international organisations to provide support and resources for the tournament system.

Conclusion:

#AUEsportsConnect & #AUEsportsConnectFEMME will provide a much-needed infrastructure and organisation for the African esports scene. By connecting and promoting African players on the continent, it will help to attract new players, viewers and sponsors to the scene. Additionally, it will provide a platform to showcase the top talent from across Africa and foster a sense of community and competition among African esports players.

We would like to propose this initiative and look forward to collaborating with any organisation or individual that shares the same vision to build a better esports community in Africa.
